Every year since 2003, Göteborg, Sweden, has been the host of the Clandestino Festival, an event showcasing music, art, and conversations that draw upon urban and rural cultural influences stemming from global migration in the modern world. The 2023 Clandestino Festival will take place on June 8–11 and feature Blanco Tets, Ukandanz, Irreversible Entanglements, Derya Yildrim & Grup Simsek, and Alogte Oho & His Sounds of Joy.
Rather than simply accepting "multiculturalism," this festival pushes boundaries and exposes the public to alternative musical forms, diversity on the margins, innovative approaches to multiculturalism beyond binary-based folklore, and refrains from exoticizing or demonizing ethnic differences.
By way of genre-transcending electronic activism, assembling legendary artists and up-and-coming stars alike, hosting riveting talks, and presenting mesmerizing visuals, Clandestino Festival has established itself as a beacon for inspiring critical thought on contemporary forms of cultural dominance.
