For nearly 40 years, the Boston Early Music Festival (BEMF) has been held to be a leader in early music and its related activities. Established by pioneers of historical performance both locally and internationally, BEMF sponsors various events that aim to further advance interest in this musical genre. These include annual concerts featuring some of early music's brightest talents and biannual festivals with exhibitions for which The Times London has dubbed it "the world's leading festival of early music." As a result of its excellent programs, BEMF has established itself as the premier presenter of Medieval, Renaissance, and Baroque music in North America. Furthermore, it has solidified Boston's reputation as "America's early music capital," according to The Boston Globe.
As one of its main objectives, BEMF strives to uncover and display lesser-known Baroque operas using the top musicians in concert with up-to-date data on historical vocalization, orchestral performance, stage setup, clothing design, choreography, and production.
Experience the pinnacle of North American Early Music celebrations with eight days filled with GRAMMY-winning operas and electrifying concerts, an internationally renowned Exhibition, and so much more! BEMF will make its triumphant comeback on June 4–11, 2023. Don't miss out on this unforgettable week full of opera performances, intimate concerts, and a wealth of other cultural activities!
