Aarhus Festuge (Aarhus Festival) is an annual festival that delights local and international visitors with its 10-day arts and culture celebration in Aarhus, Denmark. From late August to early September, within weeks 35 - 36, this exceptional festival began in 1965 and has become one of Northern Europe's most significant themed events. So take advantage of the chance to explore all that Aarhus Festuge offers!
Since 1965, Aarhus Festuge has evolved from a local celebration to an international event with renowned artists and performers worldwide. This is partly due to its original purpose: presenting Aarhus' cultural profile based on the belief that art, culture, and community are essential for any thriving city. And it's been considered such a success throughout history that now it's become an annual tradition spread across multiple countries!
With local and global talent, Aarhus Festuge offers 1000 events over ten days. These experiences cater to children, teens, and adults across various cultural genres like music, theatre performance, architecture tours, art installations talks, food tastings, and traditional entertainment.
Through Aarhus Festuge, its headquarters curates and manages one-third of the events, while the other two-thirds are orchestrated by private companies or external entities in town. This platform nurtures creativity, progress, and collaboration between local cultural institutions, businesses, restaurants, venues, and associations throughout the city.
