It all started in 1997 when a group of dedicated volunteers congregated with one shared goal: to honor Woody Guthrie's music and philosophy that each human being is valuable regardless of any differences. None more or less than another. And so began their journey to establish a national site right here in Okemah, Oklahoma—Woody's hometown.
Every year, the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival takes place in Okemah, Oklahoma, around July 14th to honor and celebrate his life and work. This five-day event offers multiple performances throughout the day at venues such as Brick Street Cafe and Crystal Theatre. At the same time, evening main-stage concerts occur at Pastures of Plenty.
Mark your calendars for July 12 - 16, 2023! Come to the Woody Guthrie Folk Festival and experience an incredible event filled with music, song-telling, and more. This is a one-of-a-kind opportunity that you don't want to miss!
